To learn more about yourself so you can be more for others is the ultimate journey.
I believe I can only take you as far as I have gone myself. This is why I am a lifelong learner. I am always reading a new book, researching a new topic, taking a new course, and going to my own therapy to ensure my own continuous growth as I feel that is the best way to support you.
I specialize in supporting individuals who struggle with anxiety. However, with over 15+ years working in the mental health field I have extensive experience working with individuals who struggle with a variety of issues such as stress, depression, relationship issues, domestic violence, trauma, anger, crisis (self harm and suicidal ideation) as well as working with first responders and their families.
I am trained in a variety of modalities (different types of therapy) such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment. I use a tailored approach to work collaboratively with you to meet you where you are at.
As a former college professor, I use a lot of psychoeducation to help you understand the complexities of what you are experiencing. I am a science nerd so love to teach you about your mind and body and what is happening to you when you are struggling. This often normalizes your experience and helps to quiet the “there is something wrong with me” voice we all hear in our head. I use practical language and metaphors to simplify complex issues.
Truly effective therapy is a journey and partnership and I hope that we can work together to help you achieve your goals.
